Last updated: February 14, 2025

How to stake

Follow our walkthrough for a step-by-step guide to staking your tokens to a Macrocosmos subnet on the Bittensor network. There are two ways of delegating your stake: [A] via a validator, and [B] through the Bittensor Command Line Interface [BTCLI].

[A] Through a validator

Here's a walkthrough of how to delegate via a Validator:

1. Visit the TaoStats delegation page and to delegate to Macrocosmos subnets, visit SN1 - Apex, SN9 - Training, SN13 - Dataverse, SN25 - Protein Folding and SN37 - Finetuning.

2. Connect your Tao wallet.

3. Select a validator (for example, to stake across Macrocosmos subnets, select the Macrocosmos Validator).

[B] Through the BTCLI

To delegate the stake yourself, you'll needโ€ฆ

Once you have the wallet and BTCLI installed, follow these steps:

1. Open your terminal (or command line).

2. Run the following command to add a stake:

btcli stake add --hotkey-ss58-address 5Cg5QgjMfRqBC6bh8X4PDbQi7UzVRn9eyWXsB8gkyfppFPPy

The --hotkey-ss58-address flag specifies the hotkey address you would like to delegate to, this is the Macrocosmos Validator.

3. Follow the prompts in the BTCLI to complete the staking procedure.
